North Texas loves its Christmas lights like it loves its Tex-Mex. Extra everything. That's why it's not hard to blink and find some pretty cool neighborhood light displays just about anywhere in DFW. And, not surprisingly, a few of them have made an appearance on ABC's Great Christmas Light Fight. We've narrowed it down to our absolute favorites, and I can tell you that while my kids might be tweens and teens, they're still always up for hopping in the car and driving the distance to check out some of these displays—with a drive through Starbucks for hot chocolate first, of course.

- The best time to check out Christmas lights in Dallas-Fort Worth is definitely on a weeknight. Fridays and Saturdays are super busy, so expect lines of cars in neighborhoods.
- If you’re going to check out holiday lights in neighborhoods around the metroplex, check to see if there’s a school or public parking lot within walking distance. It’s much better than being stuck in a car and unable to leave the community.
- If you’re viewing lights in a public place like Vitruvian Park in Addison, there are restrooms and room to take your stroller. If you’re driving through a neighborhood like Deerfield in Plano, you’ll need to park and walk if you want to use a stroller.

DeLoache Avenue Home in Preston Hollow - Dallas
She’s a beaut! This stunning home knocks it out of the park when it comes to Christmas lights. A total Grinch and Whooville wonderland, you can admire the spectacular setup daily starting at 7pm. Get a glimpse here.
Highland Park - Highland Park
This Dallas enclave has long been known to go all-out for the holidays. The impressive estates and mansions located off Preston Road are famous for their larger-than-life decor that has included giant toy soldiers, presents, and thousands of twinkly lights. While there is not one specific house to single out, so many homes are decorated that it’s worth a visit. If you don’t want to drive, consider taking a carriage ride with Brazos Carriage, which, over the years, has become a quintessential Dallas holiday tradition.
Santa House in University Park - Dallas
If you love nostalgia, this is the house for you. A whimsical display you won’t see anywhere else, this Park Cities home boasts hundreds of illuminated Santas, snowmen, nutcrackers, carolers, and other holiday characters. The best part? This Christmas decor is classic. You know, like the ones your grandparents had on their lawn when you were a kid.
Kessler Park - Dallas
You’ll want to enter the neighborhood at Colorado and Lausanne Avenues, which is easily identifiable due to the five old-growth oak trees draped in lights. From there, you’ll be able to admire the grand homes of the historic neighborhood lit up for the holiday season.
Deerfield Holiday Lights - Plano
This is where you’ll find the most well-known free Christmas lights in all of DFW. I took my daughter two years ago on a whim, and we were not disappointed. It is rumored that over 700 homes take part in the festivities, and they range from simple twinkle lights to over-the-top displays complete with Christmas music.
There are a few insider tips to having a stress-free experience in Deerfield: avoid entering off Legacy. This will be crowded almost any day of the week. If you enter via Quincy, you’ll have a better chance of cruising through in a reasonable time. You can also park at Betty Haun Elementary or Citizen Church and walk the neighborhood, or even book a carriage ride. The Christmas lights in Deerfield run from December 1 - December 30, from 7pm - 10pm on weekdays and 7pm - 11pm on weekends. Check the neighborhood page for updates and a map.
Burkman Holiday Home - Frisco
This Christmas light display is on another level. Not only can you see the 115,000 holiday lights (90% of which are LED) from an airplane, but it’s been featured on not one but two TV shows, including ABC’s Christmas Light Fight. This year is the family’s 10th anniversary, so if you want to be absolutely dazzled and maybe catch a glimpse of “sanpa,” head to Frisco from December 3 - December 28, 2025. Best Christmas Light Display In or Near Fort Worth
Historic Fairmount - Fort Worth
Not only does this historic neighborhood have an abundance of Christmas lights, but there’s also a holiday party, Festivius, on December 13, 2025, that kicks off the season with all kinds of fun, including photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, food trucks, and kids’ activities. When you’re ready, collect your map and drive or walk your way through the streets.
Tell Family Lights - Fort Worth
This single-family home near Keller High School is worth a visit. They use almost 50K lights to create their display, which you can watch in sync with music at 97.5 FM. The entire show lasts almost 60 songs, and you can vote on your favorite song. Get more information from the website or from their Facebook page.
Interlochen Lights - Arlington
This neighborhood has been stringing lights ala Clark Griwswold for 50 years. See over 200 homes light up for the holiday on this free Christmas lights tour, accompanied by festive music that completes the experience.
