South Florida knows how to stay cool—and for good reason. With sunshine and warm temperatures year-round, Miami and its neighboring communities have perfected the art of water-filled fun. Whether your ideal day includes a pool, a lazy river, twisty water slides, or standing under a giant splash bucket, there’s a water attraction here that’s perfect for you.

These family-friendly destinations are a fun alternative to a day at the beach, and they’re packed with fun for kids of all ages. So grab your swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen, and dive into one of South Florida’s best places to beat the heat.

1. Grapeland Water Park—Miami

This city-run water park offers fun for every age. Little ones under 36 inches can play safely at Shipwreck Cove, while bigger kids can enjoy the thrills of Pirate's Plunge. For more laid-back fun, guests can splash around in Captain’s Lagoon or float along the Buccaneer River Ride. When it’s time for a break, the on-site concession stand has you covered with tasty treats. Note: The water park is only open in the summer.

2. Jungle Island—Miami

With a Jungle Island admission or season pass, you’ll get access to the Jungle Splash inflatable water park. This play area features a multilevel playground, three water slides, and three refreshing wading pools—perfect for cooling off on a hot day. Plus, on-site dining options make it easy to grab a bite without leaving the fun.

3. McDonald Water Park—Hialeah

Operated by the City of Hialeah, this family-friendly water park includes a wave pool, lazy river complete with waterfalls, and a splash pad designed especially for young children. There are also dedicated party areas available, making it a great spot for celebrations. With a snack bar on site, it’s an ideal destination for a full day of fun for families of all ages.

4. Miami Spring Aquatic Center—Miami Springs

Located in the heart of Miami Springs, this aquatic center offers a zero-entry beach-style pool with interactive water features—perfect for kids to splash and play while parents relax nearby. Thrill-seekers over 48 inches tall can enjoy the 35-foot waterslide, while swimmers looking for exercise can take advantage of the 25-yard main pool, which includes six lanes for lap swimming.

5. Tidal Cove—Aventura

Located at the J.W. Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort, this water park offers something for nearly every age and interest. With a day pass, guests can experience a 60-foot tower featuring seven water slides, float along a lazy river, ride the waves on a FlowRider surf simulator, or let little ones explore the Kids Cove aquatic playscape. Guests can also enjoy a full bar, poolside service, and rentable cabanas.

6. Caporella Aquatic Center—Tamarac

This aquatic center features a zero-depth-entry, eight-lane pool with a double tornado slide, as well as a dedicated splash zone for young children. Beyond the pool, guests can take advantage of a picnic pavilion, a convenient concession stand, and an on-site fitness center.

7. Castaway Island—Hollywood

Located in TY Park, this Caribbean-themed aquatic complex offers an expansive swimming lagoon along with two distinct wading pools catered to different age groups. The first pool, designed for all ages, boasts a multilevel water play structure, featuring slides, water cannons, rain curtains, and playful details like palm trees and continuous water sprays. The second pool is tailored for toddlers, offering water play animals, a shipwreck slide, water cannons, and water-spilling coconuts for extra fun. The park is open seasonally, so be sure to check its website for operating hours before visiting.

8. Paradise Cove Water Park—Pembroke Pines

Located in C.B. Smith Park, Paradise Cove offers fun for all ages. It features four five-story waterslides for swimmers over 42 inches tall, each ending in a four-foot plunge pool. The park also includes four separate water play areas, each designed for different age groups and interests. This park is also open seasonally; check the park's website for hours before visiting.

9. Splash Adventure Water Park—Deerfield Beach

Splash Adventure Water Park at Quiet Waters Park is a favorite spot for families with young children. It is complete with splash pads, water fountains, and mini slides. The centerpiece is a large wading pool that’s just one foot deep, surrounding a dedicated play area perfect for little ones. With plenty of shaded lounge seating, food concessions, and lifeguards on duty, it’s a great place for a relaxing day out with little ones.

10. Tropical Splash Water Park—Lauderhill

*Update: Tropical Splash is closed for the 2025 season.
Located in Central Broward Park, this facility includes two interactive water playgrounds: one for smaller children, with climbing features and small slides; the other for older children, with a spiral slide, two turning slides, water guns, and an oversized bucket that regularly fills with water and dumps it out onto the playground below.

11. Calypso Bay Waterpark—Royal Palm Beach

Owned and operated by Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation, this water park offers two 30-foot waterslides, an 897-foot meandering lazy river, and an interactive water playground complete with a lily pad walk. Guests can also enjoy a lap pool with diving boards and a full concession stand for snacks and refreshments.

12. Coconut Cove Waterpark—Boca Raton

This action-packed water park offers something for everyone, from a 986-foot river ride and a challenging lily pad walk to two towering, four-story water slides. Younger guests can splash and play in the interactive children’s water playground, while others relax or swim in the recreational pool. For added convenience, the park also features locker rentals, concession stands, and shower facilities.

13. Rapids Waterpark—Riviera Beach

Rapids Water Park is South Florida’s largest water park, spanning over 35 acres and featuring more than 40 slides and attractions. Highlights include the Mega Mayhem dueling water coaster, a wave pool, lazy river, and dedicated areas for children, making it a top destination for family fun.

14. Sailfish Splash Water Park—Stuart

Sailfish Splash Waterpark is a fun, two-acre park with a 1,000-foot lazy river and two tall water slides, including a fast enclosed slide. It has a large splash playground with water jets, slides, and a big dumping bucket, plus a fun cargo net walk. Visitors can relax in shaded picnic areas or lounge chairs, rent cabanas, shop at the gift store, and swim in the lap pool.

15. Shark Wake Park—West Palm Beach

Obstacle Island at Shark Wake Park is an inflatable water park packed with giant slides, climbing towers, and jumping points. Shark Wake Park also features a cable park for wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and water skiing. All participants must be able to swim. Participants for Obstacle Island must be at least 6 years old and 45 inches tall. Participants for the cable park must be at least 10 years old.
