Looking for the best things to do in Westchester and the Hudson Valley this weekend? Here are some family-friendly events and activities to add to your list for MLK Weekend.

MLK weekend is upon us and packed with family-friendly fun, including a Kid Zone Neon Glow Party at Harrison Meadows Country Club, featuring a dance party for kids with glow paint and karaoke. Families can also celebrate the reopening of the 60-foot-tall indoor Ferris wheel in the Palisades Center at the Ferris Wheel Reopening Party, with half-price rides, a live DJ, a balloonist, cotton candy, and more.

On Monday, honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at the annual Singing Parade in Beacon or volunteer during the MLK National Day of Service at multiple locations throughout Westchester and the Hudson Valley.

As spectacular as the holidays are in Westchester and the Hudson Valley, all of the celebrations can take a toll on the family budget. So we've rounded up tons of free activities in January, including Family Free Night at the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum, where kids can explore STEM-themed exhibits and try out the new toddler rock wall, and the interactive fun at Safety Sally’s Firetruck Pinewood Derby at FASNY Museum of Firefighting.

January is also the start of the maple-sugaring season in the area, and you can kick it off with a Muscoot Farm backyard sugaring workshop.

Family-friendly New Year's Eve Celebrations include Noon Year's Eve at Legoland Discovery Center, featuring a Lego balloon drop at noon and a dance party with Lego characters, and the Cornwall on Hudson New Year's Eve Junior Ball Drop with s'mores, fireworks, and more.

Families can enjoy pre-Christmas celebrations at Shake it Off's Cookies and Cocoa with Santa, which also includes a dance party, and at Santa's Workshop at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, where kids can decorate cookies, do holiday crafts with Santa, and enjoy a holiday lights drive-thru afterward. 

Other festivities this weekend include Kwanzaa 2024 at Hudson Hall, featuring African dancing, drumming, and crafts for kids, and a Winter Solstice Celebration at Olana State Historic Site, featuring sun-gazing activities and more.
