Summer fairs and festivals in the Hudson Valley are a great–and usually inexpensive–way to entertain the family on those long summer days. And they're a great way to enjoy the scenic views and rich cultural bounty the Hudson Valley has to offer.

We've rounded up the top festivals in the region, many of which are FREE to attend. From county fairs to local food festivals, there is fun to be had for kids of all ages.

Summer fairs and festivals in Westchester offer a ton of ways to party al fresco from June through August. Westchester's staged outdoor entertainment options include picnic-blanket music festivals and cultural-heritage feasts.

Kick off the summer festivities at the Westchester Annual Strawberry Festival in Chappaqua, featuring live music, a petting zoo, and the famous strawberry shortcake. Other stand-out events include the return of the Sleepy Hollow Mermaid Festival and a 4th of July celebration at Mamaroneck's Fireworks Spectacular and Fireman's Carnival in Harbor Island Park.

Families can also celebrate Pride Month at multiple kid-friendly celebrations, including Hastings-on-Hudson Friday Night Pride, which features a parade, concert, and tons of kids' activities, such as a giant rainbow slide and face painting.

Best Things To Do in Westchester and the Hudson Valley May 2025 with Kids

From Mother's Day to Memorial Day, we've rounded up fun things to do all month long in Westchester and the Hudson Valley!

This May, enjoy treasure hunting, sword-fighting demonstrations, mermaids, and more at the annual Hudson Valley Pirate Festival at the Ulster County Fairgrounds. Or, check out an outdoor celebration of the Holi Festival of Colors in Hawthorne's Broadway Field Park, featuring bounce houses, Bollywood dancing, color throwing, and more.

Kids of all ages are invited to don their best fairy wings and join the annual Fairy House Hunt in the Garden at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie's Locust Grove Estate every weekend in May.

Easter egg hunts are the main events this Easter weekend, with tons of places to hunt in Westchester and the Hudson Valley, including a unique Egg Hunt for Wolves in South Salem. 

Or, in honor of Earth Day, kids can Meet the Lorax at Poughkeepsie's Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum and enjoy storytime and crafts.

Earth Day 2025: Earth Day Activities in Westchester and the Hudson Valley for Kids

April is Earth Month, and Westchester and the Hudson Valley are home to some great Earth Day celebrations that you won't want to miss. At these celebrations, kids can learn about gardening, recycling, and even meet the Lorax, Dr. Seuss's original eco-advocate.

Some of our picks are geared toward kids, while others are full-day celebrations that the whole family can enjoy. These events feature activities like live music, seed planting, arts and crafts using recycled materials, and learning about how to conserve energy in your home.

Spring into April in Westchester and the Hudson Valley with a jam-packed schedule of things to do, including festivals, shows, and outdoor fun. 

Take a ride on the Easter Bunny Express in the Catskills or hunt for Easter eggs with Bluey and bouncy houses at Shake it Off's Easter Egg Hunt with Bluey in Scarsdale. Alternatively, enjoy the magnificent cherry blossoms while learning about Japanese culture at the Sakura Festival at the Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden. 

Kids are also invited to celebrate Earth Day Weekend with eco-themed STEM activities at the Westchester Children's Museum. Or, rock out to the Music of Taylor Swift for Kids presented by the Rock n' Roll Playhouse at Garcia's in Portchester.

Spring festivals, fairs, and celebrations in Westchester and the Hudson Valley offer some of the best ways to get outside and celebrate the season. Our picks of spring festivals include celebrations of the natural beauty of spring and festivals honoring the area's rich cultural bounty.

New for 2025: The world's largest Lego Festival comes to Legoland New York, featuring five immersive zones, new costume characters, new Lego models, and more.

Meanwhile, families can celebrate Earth Day at multiple spring festivals, including the Earth Day Celebration at Hudson Highlands Nature Center. Or, marvel at the beauty of nature at the annual Mohonk Mountain House Tulip Festival in New Paltz and the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival in Hastings-on-Hudson, which features beautiful cherry blossoms along with Japanese cultural activities.
