Los Angeles has plenty of holiday magic waiting on the rails, from a staple in Griffith Park to a movie-like adventure on the SoCal Polar Express. So, put on those matching family PJs and get ready to sing some carols, hear a story, and chow down on Christmas cookies, while embracing the holiday spirit. The best places to trick-or-treat in Los Angeles happen to be the best places to trick-or-treat in the whole country! Granted, we might be a little biased, but here are the facts: the Halloween decorations on local homes are second to none, and many blocks across the city close off streets to traffic to have trick-or-treat parties. And LA movie magic often finds its way onto neighborhood streets in the form of elaborately decorated houses and incredible special effects.
But in a city this big, some neighborhoods go all out on Halloween, and some remain pretty quiet. Where should you go? We’ve compiled a list of the most legendary trick-or-treat neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Here’s where to go to find lots of treats—not to mention some prime photo ops.

Just south of Anaheim, Irvine beckons LA families to come and play. This lovely city sits at the heart of Orange County. With 250,000 residents, UC Irvine, and the headquarters of many well-known companies, it is consistently rated as one of the safest and best cities to live in by national publications. With all this going on, there must be something to do, right? And is there ever!
If you're looking for an outing in your own backyard, things to do after a sports tournament (Irvine’s parks play host often), or if you fancy a drive somewhere new, there are lots of places to explore and lots of things to do in Irvine.

Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Farm isn't your average parking lot pumpkin patch. Rather, it's the epitome of all things fall, and it's the perfect place to celebrate autumn, Halloween, and of course, pumpkins. When we visited, my husband kept commenting on how giddy I was. I couldn't help it—Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Farm was everything I love about October all rolled into one, big, pumpkin-y package. And this year, the patch is celebrating its 45th anniversary by hosting a season that is bigger and better than ever before.
