If you think your baby's first year is going to be nothing but naps, diapers, and spit up, think again. There are tons of things to do with a baby in DFW, making it hard to know where to start, so we've put together what we call our "baby bucket list" for the metroplex, and it's got everything from splash pads to hands-on playtime. storytime, and even a Mommy & Me class. The best part? Almost every activity is free for your baby! The only thing stopping you from doing it all is getting all your gear in the car before nap time hits.

Things to Do with Baby in DFW

1. Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden at the Dallas Arboretum

When the weather is right, the 8-acre garden is a wonderland. Head for First Adventures, an enclosed play space filled with baby and toddler-sized attractions like a sandbox, a plant petting box, a caterpillar maze, a creek for water play, and more. When baby is ready to move on, strap them in the stroller and explore the exhibits, including Habitats, The Walk on the Wild Side, and The Amazing Secret Garden.

2. The Moody Family Children’s Museum at the Perot

This spot is for little North Texans visiting the museum. It re-opened in May 2025, after a total renovation, and babies will love the expanded toddler area and the waterfall in the outdoor space.

3. The Little Gym

There are 10 Little Gym locations in DFW, and they offer classes just for babies ages four months and up. Infants will enjoy gentle movement, sensory play, and caregiver bonding in the “Bugs” class, and babies will gain mobility and develop balance and coordination in the “Birds” class.

4. Play Street Museum

DFW is home to several of these adorable pretend-play spaces. The themes differ in each spot: Town Square, On the Farm, On the Go, and Downtown (Lake Highlands). There’s usually a baby-dedicated space in each location, and there are plenty of blocks, sensory toys, and stuffed animals babies will love.

5. Bookmarks in NorthPark Center

There’s a plethora of free baby-centric classes at the Dallas Public Library branch, aptly named “Bookmarks,” and if you haven’t taken advantage of them, there’s no time like the present. From story time to sing-a-longs, caregiver meet-ups, and programs like bubble shows and puppet shows that older siblings will enjoy as well.

6. Amon Carter Museum of American Art

This Fort Worth museum is stroller-friendly and often has family programs. The family pop-up space on the second floor is where you can go when your baby needs to take a break from the exhibit halls. The museum even has free strollers for rent.

7. Children’s Aquarium Dallas at Fair Park

Designed just for kids, this aquarium might be on the smaller side, but it's big on fun, especially for little ones. They’ll love the tanks filled with brightly-colored saltwater fish, the axolotls in the freshwater exhibit, and don’t miss Stingray Bay, where they can watch other kids interact with the animals. It’s just enough excitement for a baby, and by the time you’ve seen it all, they’ll be ready for that afternoon nap.

8. The Dallas Contemporary

This under-the-radar museum in the Design District has a designated time just for parents and strollers. Take an educator-led tour of the current exhibits, followed by storytime and age-appropriate activities. For children ages 24 months and under.

9. Tot’s Town at the Frisco Library

You’ll find this play space in what is quite possibly the coolest library in DFW. Designed for kids ages birth to 5, babies will love The Pond, a storytime area complete with lily pads and frogs, as well as the Construction Zone filled with blocks and the Ready to Read Railroad. It does get busy, so be prepared to put your name on a waiting list if there’s a crowd.

10. Safari Splash at the Fort Worth Zoo

During the warm months, this incredible splash pad is worth a visit. Babies can enjoy the toddler area that has zoo animals and water fountains.

11. Kaleidoscope Park

One of the newest green spaces in Frisco has a fun tot area, sand and water play, plenty of grass for a picnic lunch, and plenty of events on the weekend. It’s also close to The Star if you want to grab a bite before heading home.

12. Airfield Falls Trailhead

One of the best waterfalls in the metroplex is easy to reach with a jogging stroller. The main path is paved, and it’s just .25 miles from the trailhead to the falls. The entire trail is 1.8 miles, and it’s just long enough to get your steps in while baby gets some vitamin D.

13. Little Elm Beach

The Lakefront at Little Elm entertainment district includes a sandy beach on the shores of Lake Lewisville. Your little one can watch you build a sandcastle, nap under the umbrella, and splash in the water. You can pack a cooler with snacks, walk the paved paths, and grab a bite to eat as well.

14. Forest Park Trains

Did you know there’s a kid-sized train near TCU and the Fort Worth Zoo? It’s just the right size for baby’s first ride, and there’s a 20-minute stop halfway through at a snack shop in Trinity Park!

15. The Play Place at Galleria Dallas

This soft indoor playground is located on level three near Nordstrom. It’s jungle-themed, and while it does get busy during the weekends when there are magic and music shows, it’s a great place to take babies during the week.

16. Peppa Pig’s World of Play

George's Dinosaur Discovery and Granny Pig's Garden, particularly the soft-floored area with the hedge maze and frog sounds, at this Peppa Pig-themed indoor playground in Grapevine, are a lot of fun for babies

17. Klyde Warren Park

This community park in the heart of the  Arts District is a great spot if you're looking for things to do with baby in Dallas. Not only is there a children's playground, but the lawn area, the food trucks, and the Nancy Best Fountain will keep your little one well entertained until it's time to leave.
