Visiting the Ninigret Trolls in Rhode Island with Kids
On the shores of a Rhode Island ponds stand some magical creations: the Ninigret Trolls. These massive statues, some over X feet tall, are created entirely out of recycled materials. The artist, Thomas Dambo, has installed his troll sculptures around the world. And here in New England, we can see these amazing works of art at Ninigret Park in Rhode Island.

Visiting Ninigret Park in Rhode Island
Ninigret Park is located in Charlestown, Rhode Island, which is on the coast between Westerly and Naraganssett. Ninigret Park has seen a huge uptick in visitors since the trolls arrived. Visitors from around the country have come to see these magical creatures that have developed a worldwide following.

What To See in Ninigret Park in Rhode Island
The two trolls are definitely the highlight of a visit to Ninigret Park. Each is about 16 feet in length, and they both have called Ninigret Park home since 2024. The entire journey to visit the trolls takes about 45 minutes, but there are more things to see and do at Ninigret Park.
Ninigret Trolls: Eric Rock
Relaxing on the edge of Little Nini Pond, Eric Rock is the first troll that people usually encounter on a visit to Ninigret Park in Charlestown, Rhode Island. He holds a rock in one hand and wears a birdhouse necklace. Eric Rock is also the keeper of the clues that will reveal the location of the second troll, Greta.
Ninigret Trolls: Greta Granite
Greta Granite sits cross-legged amid massive granite boulders. Greta holds out her collection of necklaces, which are made from found materials, including shells, glass, and driftwood. Over 100 people contributed to the creation of this amazing troll sculpture in Rhode Island.
More Fun at Ninigret Park
Besides the trolls, Ninigret Park houses a top-notch playground, ball fields, and a picnic area. The park has a 1.3-mile bicycle path as well. There is also a freshwater pond with a public beach for swimming.
Why Are There Trolls in Rhode Island?
Danish artist Thomas Dambo has installe these unique works of art in over 20 countries. Some of Dambo's trolls are over 35 feet tall. These statues are intended to connect people and nature, reminding us of the importance of caring for our environment. The recycled materials and the nature spirits that these figures represent are part of Dambo's message.
The artist began making his unique trolls in 2014, and he can use dozens of people to assist in the process. There are over 125 trolls in all, with around 50 in the United States. Dambo's trollmap shows all the places around the world where you can find these unique creations.
New Trolls Are Coming to Rhode Island for 2025
By the end of Summer 2025, there will be three new trolls in Rhode Island, with one in North Kingstown, one in Richmond, and another in East Providence. Keep your eyes peeled for more of these incredible works of art!
