1. The Adventure Park—Bridgeport and Storrs

With two CT locations in Storrs and Bridgeport's Discovery Museum, The Adventure Park offers birthday packages for intrepid climbers that include safety instruction and two hours of self-guided climbing. There's a reserved area for food and cake, and the park provides a goodie bag and a t-shirt for the guest of honor.

2. Jumpz—Danbury

Is your tween bouncing off the walls? Jumpz in Danbury offers 2-hour party packages that include pizza, drinks, and 90 minutes of jump time--they'll even arrange the online invitations for you! All party guests must have a signed waiver in order to participate.

3. Connecticut Sportsplex—Shelton

This family entertainment center offers 1.5-hour party packages in everything from ice skating to mini-golf, but if your tween is anything like mine, the big draw is going to be Lazer Tag. The Lazer Tag arena is jungle-themed and includes lights, fog, and all kinds of surprises. Packages include pizza and drinks. Gift bags are available for an additional fee.

4. New Canaan Nature Center—New Canaan

Is your tween an outdoor enthusiast? Check out the Survival Challenge party for kids ages 8-12. Party guests will learn how to read a compass or a map, then learn how to build a shelter, identify local plant species, and maybe even find some edible bugs. Other party options include a Night Hike, Science Mania, as well as other themes.

5. Bowlero—Norwalk

At their renovated facility in Norwalk, Bowlmor offers party packages for kids 12 and under and kids 13-17. Parents can customize parties to include drinks, pizzas, or other child-friendly options including hot dogs, mac-n-cheese bites, and more--they even have a chocolate chip cookie "cake" option. Parents are also welcome to bring in their own cakes/cupcakes. Teen parties can be held at night (9:30 or later) under the glow lights. Party packages include a card for the arcade. Laser tag is also an additional option.

6. Enchanted Garden—Ridgefield

Enchanted Garden offers performing arts-themed parties including hip hop, breakdance, musical theater, improv, theater games, and pajama movie parties (guests supply the DVDs). Budding chanteuses will love the recording studio party for kids ages 10 and up. Kids will sing along to their favorite karaoke tracks in the studio, and have everything professionally recorded to be downloaded and shared with party guests after the party.

7. Mystery Room—Multiple Locations

With three locations in CT, kids can choose from themes like Escape from Alcatraz, Superhero's Adventure, or Sherlock's Library. Pick two themes for two rounds of problem-solving fun with a break in between for food and cake in a private room.

8. Chelsea Piers—Stamford

With options for parkour, rock climbing, water polo, and more, older kids who love staying active will find good times at Chelsea Piers. Party packages include an hour and 15 minutes of activity time plus 45 minutes of celebration in a private space.

9. Xperiment Virtual Reality—Trumbull

Strap on a headset and enjoy the ride. Kids ages 7 and up can have birthday parties for up to ten players at Xperiment Virtual Reality with access to the full library of games. Packages start with 90-minute parties that include 30 minutes for pizza and drinks in a party room.

10. Extreme Paintball—Waterbury

Get tactical with a birthday party at Extreme Paintball. Designed especially for kids 10-18 years old, birthday parties include all equipment, a private field, a picnic table, and a personal referee.

11. RPM Raceway—Stamford

13. Sugar Factory—Mashantucket

Kids can grab a few friends for a sweet celebration at Sugar Factory. Indulge with a package of food and novelty desserts from Sugar Factory's outrageous menu of choices, which includes rainbow sliders, tie-dye milkshakes, and a King Kong sundae that serves 12. Leave room for the candy shop.
