We love to trick-or-treat in Atlanta and the surrounding communities, and this city knows how to do scary—terrifying Atlanta haunted houses like Netherworld make even the bravest cry! So of course surrounding trick-or-treat Atlanta neighborhoods go all out for Halloween. Grab your candy buckets because we're highlighting some of our favorite neighborhoods to trick-or-treat in Atlanta.

Because some families may not be able to trick-or-treat in their specific neighborhoods, for whatever reason, this collection is a great way to celebrate the holiday regardless of your housing situation.

Atlanta Trick-or-Treating Tips

A commonly asked question about the spookiest night of the year is, "What day and times does trick-or-treating take place for Halloween in Atlanta?" Trick-or-treat in Atlanta happens on October 31 every year; the times to visit houses usually occurs 5-9pm. And remember, if the lights are out, the candy (or family) is, too (so skip those houses). Trick-or-Treat in Little Five Points and Candler Park

Little Five Points is known for its funky style, and the cool attitude even extends to the way they celebrate Halloween. The Little Five Points Halloween Festival and Parade has been a neighborhood draw from Atlantans across the metro area for years. The surrounding shops get into the Halloween spirit, many handing out candy to costumed trick-or-treaters.

Trick-or-Treat in Old Fourth Ward

An intown neighborhood that is bursting with Atlanta Halloween events and trick-or-treating fun is Old Fourth Ward (O4W). The Atlanta BeltLine, which runs through this neighborhood, is filled with superheroes, witches, and every costume in between walking to their Halloween destination. Trick-or-Treat in Oakhurst

When it comes to legendary tales of Halloween houses and neighbors outdoing each other with the Halloween spirit, Oakhurst in Decatur takes the cake...or rather the candy bowl. Oakhurst is a wonderful place to trick-or-treat near Atlanta, as well as take selfies with spooky inflatables and safely amble through a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood.

Trick-or-Treat in Grant Park

Grant Park is one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods and therefore possesses that ghostly Halloween vibe of the past. This area is great for trick-or-treaters to visit houses, especially since the streets are slightly more narrow and make it easier to traverse. Zoo Atlanta's Boo at the Zoo is another chance for Atlanta trick-or-treat fun—where kids can dress like animals AND hang out with them! And don't forget historic Oakland Cemetery's Capturing the Spirits tours, running weekends in October.

Trick-or-Treat in Chimney Springs

This East Cobb neighborhood is ground zero for Halloween hijinks! From elaborate decorations and top-brand candies to dance parties and games, Chimney Springs does Halloween right.

Trick-or-Treat in Glennwood Estates

Another Decatur neighborhood that brings in Atlanta trick-or-treat enthusiasts is Glennwood Estates. Located in the northeast section of Decatur, Glennwood Estates is a walkable neighborhood, perfect for families and larger groups to spread out.  

 

Trick-or-Treat on Bryan Avenue in East Point

The closely-knit families of Bryan Avenue in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of East Point take Halloween to another level! This active community goes all out with home decor, yummy candy, and Halloween fun.

Trick-or-Treat in Avondale Estates

The neighbors of Avondale Estates are so invested in Halloween that they vote for the Halloween Spirit Awards every year. Categories include Business Award (most creative, original display by a business); Children's Appeal (homes with decorations that children enjoy); Most Creative (homes with the most creative, original display); and Spookiest (homes with the biggest scare factor). Note: Pay attention to updated traffic patterns on Halloween night.

Trick-or-Treat in Bolton

Kids and families love trick-or-treating in this Upper Westside neighborhood (main streets are LaDawn Lane and Adams Drive). Bolton families and those from surrounding intown areas enjoy a fun night of candy and costumes!

Trick-or-Treat in Roswell

This family-friendly area of town loves celebrating Halloween, with lots of Roswell events like Halloween hikes at Chattahoochee Nature Center, City of Roswell Trunk or Treat, and more. Check out the massive inflatable displays throughout many of the Roswell neighborhoods and cute Halloween decor.
