Carrie Taylor's picture Submitted by Carrie Taylor on Fri, 06/28/2019 - 11:58pm

Somehow, summer is already about halfway over. But the good news is July is full of fun things to do around Houston for the whole family. You can still catch a free (or cheap) outdoor movie, or see a flick for cheap at an area theater in the comfort of air conditioning, or roam through a candy wonderland at Candytopia. This month is also full of kid-friendly shows like "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing," "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," and "Annie," the latter performed at the historic Crighton Theatre in Conroe.

There are lots of options for dazzling Fourth of July fireworks across Houston as well as celebrations without fireworks at the children's museum downtown and Fort Bend locations. Read on for more family fun in Houston this month.

May GoList: Best Things to Do With Houston Kids This Month

Carrie Taylor's picture Submitted by Carrie Taylor on Thu, 04/25/2019 - 7:09pm

May is a great month for Houston kids because school is basically over and summer is basically here. It's also great because one of Texas' best seasons officially beings: Water park season. And there are plenty of options in and near the city, from the new Hurricane Harbor (formerly SplashTown) to Schlitterbahn.

This month you can party with the family for Cinco de Mayo (and grab a margarita or three afterward), head to Galveston and swim at one of our favorite beaches. t's also a great time of the year to visit your local farmers' market for some fresh produce and handmade goods.

If you haven't had time to make summer camp plans for your kids yet, let us help you out. Our guide has ideas for outdoor camps, science-themed camps, art camps, overnight camps, and even free camps. Read on for more family fun this month.

Dinosaur Tracks in Texas: Family Fun at Dinosaur Valley State Park

Carrie Taylor's picture Submitted by Carrie Taylor on Thu, 04/18/2019 - 9:00am

Deep in the heart of Texas runs the Paluxy River, a small tributary of the Brazos River. And on in its shallow bends and shores lie one of Texas' best kept secrets - dinosaur tracks! Dinosaur Valley State Park - located in Glen Rose, Texas - remains one of my personal favorite state parks for family camping trips because of the fossilized treasures its holds and its natural beauty. You don't even have to be a dinosaur fanatic to appreciate all this park has to offer. Add it to your family's travel bucket list, and plan to visit again and again.

Carrie Taylor's picture Submitted by Carrie Taylor on Sat, 03/30/2019 - 12:44am

Spring is in full swing, and we couldn't be happier. That's because, in April, there is just so. much. to. do. From tasty crawfish and spring festivals to Easter celebrations, like breakfasts and photos with the Easter Bunny and egg hunts, there's no excuse to be bored this month.

There's Free Cone Day on April 9, where you can grab some delicious free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's and a fun Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit to take the kids to in The Woodlands. Don't miss a chance to take advantage of the outdoor rollar rink at Discovery Green, either. Read on for more family fun.
