Each Sunday at the Brevard Zoo,  escape the summer sun and dive into engaging, hands-on activities led by experts in the Nyami Nyami River Lodge. From fascinating animal behavior demonstrations to interactive exhibits on conservation and environmental science, Science Sunday combines the thrill of discovery with the comfort of cool, shaded spaces.

DATES AND FOCUS:

July 6 | Biology
Watch behind-the-scenes Sea Turtle Healing Center footage, hear about how we care for our patients, and learn about all the ways you can help your local turtles. Plus, learn about the anatomy of a manatee alongside our conservation team!

July 13 | Chemistry
During this hands-on lesson, guests will learn how to check pH, temperature and salinity levels of different water samples to make sure the water is just right for animals!

July 20 | Earth Science
Join us this Science Sunday to learn all about the role of plants in beach mice’s lives. In this interactive lesson, guests will use mouse figurines to search for “seeds” and discover how plants help these little creatures thrive.

July 27 | Physics
What makes birds such amazing aviators? Join us for some aviary fun as students match paper bird wings to their species and learn about the aerodynamics of flying!  

August 3 | Student Showcase
During this Science Sundays lesson, we’re welcoming exceptional education students to learn all about what senses humans have in common with animals! 


August 10 | Nutritional Science
Step into the kitchen to learn more about how we prepare food for our animals. Work with Zoo staff to create real food-based enrichment items and even make a “cake” to watch our monkeys eat! 

August 17 | Botany: Bonsai and Botanicals

August 24 | Engineering
Get your engineering skills on! From designing to problem solving, learn all about what it takes to create innovative solutions for our animals. 

August 31 | Environmental Science
Big changes in our community start with us! Join a member of our Restore Our Shores team to learn more about Florida native plants and how they help our Indian River Lagoon.
