Indoor Activities: Free Movies for Little Kids
Playground season is winding to a close and it's time to figure out how to entertain your little New Yorkers during the cold winter days. Fortunately there are free movies for little kids all around New York City.

Sony Wonder Technology Lab: Movies are completely free in the Sony Wonder Labs fabulous HD theater. All you have to do is call at the beginning of the week to reserve a spot. They have movies specifically for toddlers and preschoolers usually featuring Elmo, Dora and other animated favorites. There's also a separate series of feature films for older kids.
Museum of Modern Art: Once a month on Saturdays, families can enjoy the children's film programs with classic live-action and animated short films, engaging discussions with a Museum educator, and suggestions for follow-up activities in the Museum's galleries. The MoMA also has a series for tweens that shows classics and cutting-edge contemporary films. All films are free and tickets are given out first come first served on the day of the show. Time Out New York Kids Free Flix TONY Kids gives away a limited number of tickets to first run children's movie previews. The tickets are free, but you have to register for the email list to get the notices and then try to win tickets when they come up. Although the site for this is still up, I haven't noticed them doing one of these in a long time.
Your Local Library: Branch libraries often show a variety of films for children and toddlers. See all the children's activities at the NYPL calendar or the Brooklyn Public Library site. (Im not forgetting Queens, they don't seem to offer movies though).
