News: Halloween Costume Sale, Little Girl in the Kitchen, iKidNY, and Free Day at Guggenheim

Just some tid bits to share here from a sale on Halloween costumes from Amazon to a helpful phone app for navigating the city with a baby, a special event at the Guggenheim for families, and then there's little Girl in the Kitchen, which is just great for so many reasons. Check it out:
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
Watch it: Little Girl in the Kitchen is an 11 year old chef from Manhattan. Her videos on YouTube take you through the steps for recipes such as Sage Risotto, Blackberry Puffs, and "Grilled Peaches and a Citrus Drink." She may only be 11, but as she'll be the first to tell you, she has a very good palate.
Know it: Nanny Academy: Manhattan now has a nanny academy where chidcare professionals can learn everything from infant CPR to how to make tired parents feel comfortable after a hard day's work. [NBCNY]
Plan it: Traveling around New York City with a little on just got easier. iKidNY is a new iPhone app that tells you where the nearest playground, changing table, kid-friendly restaurant or subway with an elevator is. Developed by a NYC mom iKidNY takes the guesswork out of where to go when you need to go.
Do it: In celebration of it's 50th Anniversary, on Wednesday, October 21st is Free Day at the Guggenheim Museum and they will be offering free drop in classes for families from 1-5pm .
Buy it: Amazon is having a sale on Halloween costumes. Get $10 off select Halloween Costumes when you buy $50 of costumes from certain vendors including Disney Halloween Costumes.
About the Author
Founder of Mommy Poppins
A fourth-generation Brooklynite, Anna started Mommy Poppins in 2007 to help families find the best things to do with kids in NYC, with a particular emphasis on sharing activities that are free, affordable, and enriching. The site, used by millions of families, has grown to become the ultimate resource for parents in the major US cities, plus travel guides for 100s of destinations.
Anna is a believer in the magic of summer camps, traveling with kids, and that you can raise kids on a budget and still have a rich life full of amazing memories. Anna's first Mommy Poppins book, The Young Traveler's Journal and Activity Book, published in 2025 and co-written with her daughter, Amelia Eigerman, brings that ethos to life, in addition to this website.
