Holiday lights turn on for the season with The BID’s Magical Lights installation at Dante Park, featuring recordings from the Metropolitan Opera. Each evening throughout the holiday season, the audio-reactive Magical Lights, suspended from the magnificent London Plane trees dance along to recordings from La Bohème, Don Giovanni, Hansel and Gretel, and more.

Lincoln Square BID’s Holidays in Lincoln Square includes:

Magical Lights Ceremony – Thursday, December 4, at 4:30pm, in Dante Park

  • Talented jugglers, stilt walkers, and comedic characters, including the whimsical Princess Schneeflocken, entertain revelers with holiday-inspired circus acts.
  • The Saints of Swing, a collective of musicians featuring Jim Mola and Kati Mac on vocals, Grisha Alexiev on drums, Tim Ouimette on trumpet, Ken Foy on trombone, Dale DeMarco on saxophone, and Lew Scott on bass, fill the air with lively music as visitors dance along under the twinkling lights.
  • Kaufman Music Center’s Special Music School Chorus pop in with a free performance. The concert choir features high school vocal students from Kaufman’s K-12 public school.
  • Local businesses offer locals and visitors light refreshments, including Rosa Mexicana, which will warm up guests with hot chocolate and Le Botaniste, which will provide fresh cookies. First come, first served, while refreshments last.

Festive Caroling by The Fabulous Fezziwigs – December 5, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, and 18, 5:30pm – 7pm, Along the Sidewalks of Lincoln Square

  • Throughout December, the Fabulous Fezziwigs wear their festive Victorian costumes and bring joy to Lincoln Square with their spirited caroling of timeless classics and contemporary holiday favorites.

WinteRamble – Wednesday, December 17, Workshop at 3pm, Procession at 5pm.

  • At the fourth annual WinteRamble, an illuminated community procession of Frost Giant puppets and icicle lanterns begins at 5pm and travels through the Lincoln Square neighborhood until 6pm. 
  • Visitors and residents can welcome in winter by carrying an icicle lantern, creating their own mini lantern, or playing an acoustically-enhanced thumb piano in J.C. King’s Kalimbascope. Reserve your spot online in advance.

Nightly Light & Sound Shows at Dante and Richard Tucker Parks

  • Throughout the holiday season, enjoy interactive, sensory light and sound shows in Dante Park (Broadway at West 64th Street) and Richard Tucker Park (Broadway at West 65th Street) every night beginning at 4:30pm.
  • In Dante Park, festive musical recordings from the Metropolitan Opera, including newly-added tracks from The Met Opera, and timeless holiday favorites from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.
  • Magical Lights are audio-reactive lighting designed by Limbic Media, an interdisciplinary team of artists and engineers transforming public spaces with high-tech interactive art and light installations.
