2. Francesco's Bakery – Hicksville

Francesco's is an Italian-American bakery specializing in cookies, pastries, Italian bread, and custom cakes. This shop bakes up unique birthday cakes ranging from simple to elaborate designs. From a favorite cartoon character incorporated into the design to an online game-themed cake to an elegant tiered cake for a Sweet 16 celebration, this bakery offers it all.

3. Little Sugar Shop – Valley Stream

Whether your little one is wishing for a Minions cake or an under-the-sea mermaid design, Little Sugar Shop cakes are impeccably designed and executed. The cake designs in the bakery's online portfolio are stunning for inspiration. The cake flavors range from the classics to Funfetti cake to Oreo cake with an array of delicious buttercream fillings to hit the spot. Little Sugar Shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

4. Riesterer's Bakery – West Hempstead

Riesterer's is one of Long Island's oldest bakeries and has been in business since 1931. The family bakery is Kosher-certified, making it the perfect spot for delicacies such as challah bread and mandel brot. Custom cakes can be made kosher as well. Riesterer's offers a large selection of delicious cake flavors, icings, and fillings on its website, along with whether the item is dairy or non-dairy. It offers custom sheet cakes with characters ranging from superheroes to Disney princesses and festive decor, or more elaborate tiered cakes to fit your theme.  

5. St. Rocco's Bakery – Glen Cove

Your imagination is the only thing limiting you when it comes to creating a custom cake with St. Rocco's. If overly creative isn't your style, it also offers beautiful sheet and tiered cakes. St. Rocco's offers more than just traditional baked goods. Breakfast and lunch are also on the menu, including pizza and artisanal sandwiches. 

6. Sweet Karma Desserts – Plainview

Sweet Karma Desserts is an award-winning standout among Long Island bakeries, the cream of the crop when it comes to custom cakes. Cakes can be made to look like anything, from a pizza pie straight out of Ninja Turtles to a rainbow unicorn. While it does offer other treats, including cookies and pastries, the main focus is cakes. This bakery also offers gluten-free options. 

7. Vin's Bake Shop – Massapequa Park

This family-run bake shop in Massapequa Park is dedicated to baking the old-fashioned way. A staple in the community, it has been treating Long Islanders to delicious cookies, muffins, pies, cakes, and more since 2003. The specialty cakes can be designed as a fondant and buttercream hybrid, naked cakes, or even the very popular cupcake breakaway cake designs for a little one's birthday celebration. 

8. Audrey's Fine Baked Goods – West Sayville

Audrey's is a traditional bake shop with bread, pastries, cookies, and cakes, but its tiered cakes are truly magnificent. It accents cake themes with wonderful modeling chocolate figures and cake toppers. Gluten-free cake options can also be ordered in advance.

9. Tulip Bake Shop – Floral Park

This bakery is the oldest continuous small business in Floral Park and a favorite in the community. The bakery treats, all baked on the premises, include cookies, pastries, pies, breads, and, of course, cakes. Custom cake designs for birthday celebrations will dazzle your little one and your guests. The bakery can also make gluten-free mini occasion cakes. 

10. Fanny Cakes – Nesconset

Named after the owner's grandmother, Fanny Cakes focuses on quality desserts for parties and gatherings. It creates custom cakes and couture cupcakes. If your child is an aspiring baker or cake decorator, Fanny Cakes also offers dessert decorating party packages. It is not a traditional bakery storefront, so contact the staff by phone or email ahead of time.

11. Park Bake Shop – Kings Park

Tiered cakes, sheet cakes, or cupcake cakes are on the menu at Park Bake Shop. Cupcake cakes are a popular option for children's parties as they are much easier to hand out and handle. Before leaving Park Bake Shop, make sure to take home a fresh donut or cronut.

12. Buttercookey Bakery – Various Locations

This family-owned bakery has been delighting the community with desserts for more than 60 years. Since opening the Floral Park bakery in 1962, the business has expanded to two other bakeries in Manhasset and Huntington. The cake options are plentiful, with classic choices for birthday celebrations and unique custom cake designs to complement your theme. 

13. Patsy's & Son Italian Bakery – Lindenhurst

Patsy's is another family-owned mainstay on Long Island, opening its doors in 1955. Its delicious Italian pastries, cookies, bread, and of course, cakes keep patrons coming back over and over again. The custom cakes will not disappoint. The bakery can design cakes to match birthday themes and specialty requests.
