The Museum continues its partnership with the CT Center for Nonviolence (CTCN) to present a day of art-making, interactive music and dance performances, a poetry writing workshop, and guided gallery conversations focused on the theme "Choose Love." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said “At the center of Nonviolence stands the principle of love.” Join us for a series of programs on MLK Day centered on love and community.
Schedule of Activities:
11 a.m.: Welcome and Introductions in Stanley Works Center
11:05-11:50 a.m.: Drum performance by Gamaliel Moses
11-11:45 a.m. and 12:15-1 p.m.: Poetry workshop by Shanna Melton
12-12:45 p.m.: Interactive dance performance with Adjovi Simpini
12:45-1:45 p.m.: Performance and interactive workshop with CT Troubadour Khaiim Kelly
1 p.m.: Guided gallery conversations on Norman Rockwell's The Problem We All Live With and Stephanie Syjuco's Chromakey Aftermath and Total Transparencies
Throughout the day (11 a.m.-2 p.m.):
  • Drop-in art activity in Studio A: Seeds of Love (Sculptural art-making inspired by Robert Indiana’s Love)
  • Drop-in art activity in the Makerspace: Make your own button featuring artworks by artists of color.
Café Takeover:
  • 881 Grab & Go will be taking over the Museum Café for the day!
  • crAves will be selling cheesecake jars, featuring layers of creamy cheesecake, buttery crust, and irresistible flavors like strawberry, caramel apple, and oreo.
