CraneOutdoors: Winter Wildlife Walk
- see all dates
This four-mile hike reveals the hidden world of the dunes, with highlights including panoramic views of Choate Island, Pitch Pine forests, and natural cranberry bogs.
Participants will learn about the plants and animals that thrive in this dynamic ecosystem, from the elusive Snowy Owl to the fragrant Bayberry and the unusual Earth Star mushroom. Wildlife tracking cards are provided to help identify animal tracks along the trail, while expert guides share insights into the harmony of Castle Neck’s diverse habitats.
Trails cover soft sand and hilly terrain, making the difficulty level moderate. Routes may vary based on weather, typically following the green and red loops of the Crane Estate trail map. Guests will leave with a deeper appreciation of the dunes and the confidence to explore further.
