Submitted by Sona Charaipotra on Fri, 02/12/2016 - 2:30pm

New York City is chock-full of amazing art museums for adults and kids—an especially nice treat in the thick of winter when the chill has many families looking for warm, indoor fun (complete with hot cocoa, of course!). We've pulled together six new and inspiring art exhibits for NYC families, as well as a couple of must-see installations that will be closing soon.

Need more inspiration? We recently reviewed the new dinosaur exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History, Vikings in Times Square, a tech-focused Silicon City installation at the New-York Historical Society and a brand-new kid-friendly museum in Williamsburg. See, winter isn't so bad, right?

New Vikings Exhibit in Times Square Puts Focus on Family Life

Submitted by Sona Charaipotra on Tue, 02/09/2016 - 12:30pm

Most of us, when we think of the Vikings, imagine a horned skullcap and stormy shores. We imagine swashbucklers with swords plundering nearby nations. After all, isn't that what TV and the movies want us what to think?

But while the signature skullcap can be found on fun goodies in the gift shop, Discovery Times Square’s new Vikings exhibit—organized with the Swedish History Museum and MuseumPartners Austria—goes out of its way to debunk stereotypes, introducing the ancient culture as one of farming and family, where art and textiles were explored and trade was the major reason for travel, not a bloodthirsty need for empire expansion.

Dinosaurs Among Us: American Museum of Natural History to Unveil Titanosaur

Submitted by Sona Charaipotra on Fri, 12/18/2015 - 3:00pm

What’s 122-feet long, weighs as much as 10 African elephants and is totally vegetarian? A Titanosaur, of course! Dino-lovers rejoice as the American Museum of Natural History (known for its amazing must-see exhibits including The Secret World Inside You and Life at the Limits) gears up to introduce this gargantuan dinosaur in a brand-new exhibit. The massive new dinosaur cast will be unveiled in January, settling in for a three-year stay on the museum’s dinosaur floor. We've gathered some fun facts about this newly discovered dinosaur group, as well as details on the upcoming exhibit and even a very cool digital rendering of this giant find.
