Corn Mazes in Connecticut: Fall Fun for Families

Submitted by Clementina Verge on Fri, 09/15/2023 - 10:00pm

Families are taking the field this fall, for family fun at Corn Mazes in Connecticut! Photo courtesy of Preston Farms

Locals are spoiled with lots (and lots!) of corn mazes in Connecticut to explore; almost every town is close to one. For Nutmeg families, it's an autumn tradition. Many locations boast not just interesting fields of carved corn, but food, animals, ice cream, games, and play areas. As always read through the most updated information on how challenging the maze is and how you should dress. Many offer easier alternative corn mazes for the little (or less patient) kiddos.

The "New Bruce": Kid-Friendly Changes to Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT

Submitted by Clementina Verge on Mon, 03/06/2023 - 11:30pm

The "New" Bruce Museum in Greenwich has even more exhibition space for science and art.

Situated in gorgeous Greenwich, the Bruce Museum has long been a magnet for Fairfield-area families. But parents will be thrilled to know that the Bruce is bigger, better, and way kid-friendlier. The New Bruce Museum Grand Opening–Sunday, April 2, 2023–features free admission for visitors along with festivities. The week leading up to the grand opening will include special celebrations. Exciting renovations began in 2019. These transformed the main gallery space to focus on hands-on science exhibits. Other exciting changes include an update to the Art Wing. And most exciting of all, there's a brand-new Education Wing devoted to interactive children's programming. Read on for more exciting details about the "New Bruce" and see our Connecticut Museum Guide for more enriching day-trip ideas.

Submitted by Clementina Verge on Thu, 12/01/2022 - 8:03pm

The first storm of the season creates quite a stir for those of us who excitedly await a winter wonderland, and it's hard to match the thrill of holding tight to a sled while careening down one of these awesome sledding hills in the Hartford area. Winter lasts only about 12 weeks, so pack a thermos with hot chocolate, maybe grab an extra pair of mittens and socks, and embrace the snowy (and socially distant) adventures.

If you are looking to explore more winter activities, check out these Fairfield-Area sledding hills and our Connecticut Ski and Snow Sports Guide.
