Where to Meet Your Kid's Favorite Authors in Philly

Submitted by Sarah Jacknis on Sun, 07/20/2025 - 9:50am

Families can enjoy early evening storytime at A Novel Idea. Photo by the author

Meeting the authors of their favorite books is a great way to get your child excited about reading and writing! Whether it’s a storytime hosted by the writer themselves, or a Q&A about their latest book, these interactive events allow children to learn about the people who write books and the process of how books are created. Meeting the person behind a beloved book has lots of benefits for kids, including inspiring their creativity, cultivating their sense of community, and empowering them to follow their dreams. Even if they aren’t familiar with the book yet, meeting a book’s author can still be a transformative experience for your child, creating a lasting connection to that book and a deeper appreciation for the power of the written word.

Looking for more great children's book? Check out our guide to the best reads for your little one!
