Families can enjoy MLK weekend with many options for quality time and fun! Atlanta is the proud birthplace of Dr. King and the MLK Day celebrations are abundant for our city. Atlanta families honor his legacy by volunteering as part of the MLK National Day of Service and attending MLK parades and events in Buckhead, Atlanta, Acworth, Lawrenceville, and more cities. If your kids haven't had the pleasure of ice skating this season (or want to do it again), this is the final weekend at many outdoor rinks, including Atlantic Station, Sandy Springs, and Avalon.

College football fans head to downtown Atlanta for Friday's FREE Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Fan Fest, filled with interactive attractions like punting, passing and kicking games, obstacle courses, and zip lining. Also downtown this weekend? The 2026 Atlanta Boat Show, featuring boats, of course, as well as a kids' zone with VR games, surfing simulator, and crafts. One of our favorite monthly FREE events happens this weekend in Buckhead: UPS Second Sunday at the High Museum of Art. It's New Year's Eve weekend of 2025, which means it's the last call for popular holiday events like Lights of LIFE in Marietta and Holidays at the Georgia Aquarium. On New Year's Eve, families welcome 2026 with plenty of kid-friendly (i.e. early) events like Zoo Year's Eve and Noon Year's Eve at Skyline Park. This weekend also brings other fun for animal lovers like Repticon in Lawrenceville and Mutts Gone Nuts in Sandy Springs.
