Peter Pan Ballet Family Concert
- see all dates
Head to the Josephine Muller Auditorium at Abington Friends School to see Peter Pan and The Ugly Duckling performed by the Metropolitan Ballet Company. Audiences can expect to see two magical stories come to life in a ballet performance that is sure to keep children captivated.
First, travel to Neverland for magical adventures with Peter Pan, the boy who won't grow up! Wendy, John, and Michael Darling join Peter as they soar through the night sky to the land of mermaids and fairy dust. The rollicking Lost Boys bring the fun and Peter's sidekick, Tinkerbell, adds the extra sparkle on stage. In this classic tale by Scottish playwright J.M. Barrie, children discover what friendship and family are really all about. Metropolitan’s Peter Pan is choreographed by Kanji Segawa, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater company member. The stage is filled with magic.
The Ugly Duckling is also on the “bill!” Award-winning choreographer, Ashley Walton, brings the Hans Christian Andersen tale of fitting in – and standing out – to life, for a new generation! The Ugly Duckling is shunned by others who feel she is just too awkward to fit in. She tries to make friends with other ducklings, cats, a donkey and even a fox! Follow her journey as she learns it takes courage to be yourself. This piece shines a light on self- acceptance and empathy and is a great introduction to live dance and theater, yet sophisticated enough for artsy older kids and adults.
There are two showings each day: 1 PM and 4 PM. Tickets are available online.
