New York's favorite car-free street festival returns as Summer Streets opens miles of NYC streets for people to play, run, walk, and bike across multiple weeks and in all five boroughs.

Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation.

NYRR Start Line Series: NYC DOT is partnering with New York Road Runners (NYRR) to launch the NYRR Start Line Series, bringing free, community-based running and walking events to Summer Streets. Join the run at two events this summer: a 2.5-mile course along Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City, Queens, on Saturday, July 26, and a 5K (3.1-mile) course along Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn on Saturday, August 23. Both events begin at 7:30am.

Public Art: The NYC DOT Art program brings one-day installations to rest stops during Summer Streets. In Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and on Staten ;Island, Mookntaka’s Friends and Follies inflatable sculptures will inspire spontaneous play. Find the NYC Art Stop Letters at rest stops along the routes! Snap a photo with life-sized NYC letters featuring four unique designs celebrating the vibrant activations and fun of Summer Streets designed by two illustrators, Yuke Li and. Tou Yia Xiong.

Brooklyn FC will bring soccer fun to the streets with a giant inflatable “soccer darts” game to get the competitive juices flowing, with fun giveaways and the chance to win a season ticket package!
