The Brick Presbyterian Church

The first Moravian missionaries arrived in America in the 1730s, bringing with them their vision of Christian believers living together in peace and unity. They celebrated special occasions by sharing with friends a simple meal – a “Lovefeast.” Today, the Chancel Choir, joined by string quartet, offers music from the Moravian tradition. Hot drinks and sweet rolls are served.

Members of the Chancel Choir with String Quartet:
Edson Scheid, violin
Aniela Eddy, violin
Jessica Troy, viola
Ezra Seltzer, cello

Music from the American Moravian tradition by Johann Friedrich Peter and John Antes. The string trios by Antes are among the earliest examples of concert music written in the United States.

This event is free and open to the public.
