Indigenous Peoples Day in Prospect Park

Price: FREE; carousel $3 per ride, $13 for a book of 5 tickets
Join the Prospect Park Alliance when school is closed for Indigenous Peoples Day. Enjoy free nature education activities, animal encounters, bird walks, and more at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, and take a ride on the beloved Prospect Park Carousel.
- Leaf Litter, 10am–3pm: Ever wondered what’s hiding beneath the leaves on the forest floor? Well, there are seeds, leaves, insects, and much more! Participate in a hands-on leaf litter activity to learn all about it.
- Animal Encounter, 1–2pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 2pm
- Tree ID Walk, 2-3pm: Delve into the wonders of nature! Are you curious about why and when trees shed their leaves? Gain hands-on experience in citizen science by exploring the Prospect Park environment and witness how changing temperatures affect the trees. This program leaves the Audubon Center promptly at 3pm.
Re-Imagine Lefferts Open Hours, 12–4pm
Lefferts Historic House, Free
Visit the Lefferts Historic House for family friendly outdoor and indoor exhibits, activities, workshops, and special programs that explore the legacies of resistance and resilience of the Indigenous peoples of Lenapehoking, whose unceded lands the park and house rests upon, and the Africans enslaved by the Lefferts family.
Carousel Rides, 12-5 pm:
Children’s Corner, $3 per ride; $13 for a book of 5 tickets.
