Sketch and paint the seasonal landscape at Family Art Project, discover the science of leaves changing colors and family yoga practices with Kids on the Move, and explore a giant leaf pile for some outdoor fun. A special walk highlighting the garden’s hidden plant gems and stories is perfect for older kids and their families.

On Saturday and Sunday, from 12pm-4pm, stop by Mark Twain Room to craft your own an autumn-themed rolled candle using fragrant sheets of beeswax. Decorate with colorful wax leaves to take home and enjoy. No registration needed—just drop in! Please note: space is limited and you may be asked to wait if all workspaces are full.

On Sunday at 11am, explore Wave Hill's gardens with Maggie McEvoy to discover hidden plant gems and the interesting stories they tell. As you ramble along Wave Hill's garden paths, learn how some of favorite plants and trees are connected to myth, legend, and lore. Recommended for ages 10 and up, accompanied by an adult. Severe weather cancels.

On Sunday at 1pm, explore the Wave Hill grounds with museum educator Corinne Flax, finding leaves of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Learn about the complex process of photosynthesis and how trees use, and lose, their leaves in the fall. After the walk, spread your leaves and grow in a leaf-inspired family yoga class. Recommended for ages three to eight.
