Artistic & Participatory Programming:

  • Papel Picado Workshop: Aurelia Fernández leads a workshop, inviting attendees to create cut-paper ofrendas to contribute to the altar.
  • Writing Activation: Arantxa Araujo facilitates a ritual that includes a writing activation, inviting guests to share a memory, story, or poem about a loved one who is no longer with them by writing on a white wall with orange pencils. Calaveritas, a traditional Mexican written form will be introduced as well.
  • Testimonial Film: Participants will be filmed wearing "calavera" (skull) masks, invited to share their immigrant stories and how their culture celebrates Día de los Muertos or similar traditions. This act is intended as a celebratory tribute to ancestors and as a protective gesture for participants.

Musical Programming: The Mexican Mashup
