Camouflage is created in direct dialogue with the park’s iconic design and location (just 1,500 feet across the East River from the UN Headquarters). The work transforms the park into an open sanctuary draped in camouflage netting, inviting the public to reflect on vulnerability, and protection, the global reverberations of human conflict, and what freedom means in today's world.
Throughout the installation’s run, visitors are invited to write their own statements of freedom onto ribbons that are attached to the work, creating a participatory and collective dimension to this evolving public art project.
