Brooklyn Youth Chorus

Brooklyn Youth Chorus offers more than just vocal training. It cultivates the ambitions of our students, exposing them to the vast possibilities within music, future careers, and their community, ultimately helping them realize their voices truly matter.

Brooklyn Youth Chorus treats young voices as a precious resource, embracing a modern, healthy approach to vocal development through a diverse repertoire spanning various genres and composers, ensuring the students thrive. Beyond singing, our collaborative learning environment, led by facilitators, instills valuable team-working skills and accountability, demonstrating how their dedication extends to all areas of life, making their hard work visibly empowering.

The Program:

Brooklyn Youth Chorus divisions are organized by age to support healthy vocal development at different stages of growth and maturity. Within these age-based divisions, singers are placed in levels that reflect their skill, experience, and commitment. The most advanced students are invited to audition for one of the three performing ensembles. All students are assessed annually to determine placement for the following program year.

Brooklyn Youth Chorus holds placement auditions for students ages 7-18 to help us ensure your singer is placed in the program level that will be best for them. Levels are organized first by age then by experience and ability. You can find a placement audition that works for you using the scheduling tool on this page.

For younger singers ages 5-6, a Pre-Preparatory Music Class is offered without a placement audition.
