Kwanzaa Festival and Marketplace
This free Newark tradition honors the seven principles of Kwanzaa with joyous programs, including dance classes, storytelling, face painting, craft workshops, a Kwanzaa candle lighting ceremony, live performances, and much more.
Schedule:
From 1 – 5PM enjoy holiday-infused activities including dance classes for all abilities, arts and crafts, interactive storytelling and exquisite face painting.
From 1 – 7:30PM watch energizing performances by local dancers and musicians in Prudential Hall Lobby. Performances include the Show and Share from 5 – 6PM, where participants of the dance and drum circle classes share what they’ve learned.
From 1 – 11PM shop the popular Kwanzaa Marketplace. Gift your loved ones with one-of-a-kind items from local crafters and artisans such as custom and cultural clothing, handcrafted jewelry and accessories, bath and body products, crystals, artwork, books and more.
The festival is a collaboration between the Newark Museum of Art, Newark Arts, City of Newark, Newark Symphony Hall and Newark Public Library.
RSVP online.
