- see all dates
The Huntington Beach Historical Society commemorates the anniversary of the Civil War with a weekend-long living history re-enactment of the War Between the States.
Camps are open to the public starting at 10am, with battles scheduled Sat at 1:30pm and 4pm, and Sun at 11am and 2pm.
President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is delivered at 2pm on Saturday and 2:30pm on Sunday; his proposed amendment on slavery is given at 4:30pm on Saturday.
Guests can meet President Lincoln, General Grant, and many many other historical figures from the war and participate in discussions on important topics of the era. A visit to "Reedsburg," the historic town of civilian folk, offers a glimpse at daily life in the 19th century. On Saturday, there is a Twilight Concert featuring The Armory Band at 5:30pm.
Newer additions to the event include programs on the United States Colored Troops & African American Service, Civil War logistics, Reconstruction, and Native American service, politics, and conflicts in the Civil War.
