Coastal Cleanup Day 2025

Coastal Cleanup Day organizes in-person group cleanups at coastal, inland*, and river sites throughout L.A. County.
Volunteers pitch in at a variety of clean-up sites, removing the plastic bags, cigarette butts, and soda cans that sully our shores and waterways.
New this year: one man's trash can become your treasure, as California Coastal Cleanup Day becomes the world's largest scavenger hunt. Special "trash" items are hidden at cleanup sites all across the state. If you find one of them, you can redeem it for valuable prizes!
Everyone must sign a waiver. All ages are welcome, but volunteers 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers under 18 must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
A few cleanups are done via watercraft or diving. Some sites may have themes or minimum age requirements.
Go to Heal the Bay's website for more information, map of locations, and registration. Cleaning supplies are available at every site, but participants are encouraged to bring their own bucket, gloves, and a refillable water bottle to help reduce waste.
*Although the coastal cleanups tend to host the highest number of volunteers, the inland sites report higher amounts of trash removed by weight!
