Site Improvements: New Preschool Guide and Events Search

7/5/10 - By Anna Fader

We keep pretty busy here with our daily posts on all the cool stuff to do with your kids in the city, but I usually have one or two projects I'm working on in the background to make the site better. This week I'm announcing two that I've been working on for longer than I care to admit, our new Preschool Guide and our new and improved events calendar search function. I hope both these new functions will be big improvements to the site.

OUR LATEST VIDEOS

NEW EVENTS SEARCH FUNCTION
If you go to our events calendar now you'll see a box on the right side that allows you to filter events by age, location, date and type as well as keyword. Our events calendar has been so packed with cool things to do, I think this will really help you find just the events you are looking for.

Another new addition is this little logo for Editor's Picks Picture 125.png for events that our Events Editor, Stephanie, thinks are extra cool. You can search the calendar just for editors picks or just for free events or for events near you. Play around with it and see how it works for you.

NEW PRESCHOOL GUIDE
We have completely updated our Preschool Guide, adding all new listings and a section for Queens. Our Preschool Guide now lists all preschools in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens with just enough information so you can figure out if the school is worth looking into and a link to the preschool's website.

We have updated all the preschool listings, inputting new information by hand for every single school. Thanks to Jill for doing all that work!

We're not perfect, not close to it. So if you see any mistakes, have any issues, or just want to let us know what you like or don't like about either of these new features please let me know. I get hundreds of emails a day but I try to answer every email from readers and I really appreciate it when people let me know if there is something wrong with the site. So, play around with these new features. I hope they are helpful. Then let me know what you think. Thanks!
