Hands-on Houston: Fold-Formed Leaf Necklace at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft

All ages are welcome to join metalsmith and former resident artist Edward Lane McCartney to learn fold-forming!
Using a hammer and mallet, shape a stunning copper leaf by folding the metal and forming the edge to create an organic texture and curve. Once the hammering is complete, the copper can be unfolded to reveal a leaf-like form. Finish your piece by threading it onto a leather cord, creating a unique handcrafted necklace to wear!
Note: This activity will take place outdoors and is on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist or guild demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Community members of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15 – 20-minute activity. Materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product, and history of craft. Learn more here: https://crafthouston.org/learn/education-overview/
