Juneteenth in Norwalk: A Celebration of Freedom, Culture & Community Experience a week of events honoring Black history, culture, and community In Norwalk.
Saturday, June 14: JUNETEENTH FLAGRAISING Heritage Wall, 10 a.m. Located at the intersection of the Interstate I-95 exit ramp and West Ave., across the street from Mathews Park. Join city officials and local leaders for a ceremonial flagraising to mark the start of the upcoming week's events for Juneteenth.
Tuesday, June 17: JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION Norwalk Library, 1 Belden Ave., 12:00 p.m. Join us at the library for storytelling led by Tanya Small, 2nd Vice President of the NAACP Norwalk Branch. Enjoy crafts, make your own Juneteenth flag, enjoy pizza, and take home a free book.
Wednesday, June 18: JUNETEENTH STORYTELLING & DRUMMING Norwalk Library, 1 Belden Ave., 6:30 p.m. Join Our Culture is Beautiful, led by Effie and Angaza Mwando, for drumming and storytelling celebrating African diaspora traditions. All ages are welcome to experience rhythm and stories honoring freedom and resilience. Refreshments will be served.
Thursday, June 19: JUNETEENTH ON THE GREEN Norwalk Town Green, 8 Park St., 4:00 p.m. A vibrant celebration of Black freedom, culture, and community. Attendees will enjoy local food and retail vendors, live performances, inspiring speakers, and activities for all ages.
Friday June 20 – Sunday, June 22: JUNETEENTH FUNDRAISER CARNIVAL Veterans Park, 42 Seaview Ave.; Friday 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.; Saturday 12:00 – 9:00 p.m.; Sunday 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. Enjoy rides, vendors, food, live entertainment, and activities for all ages as we celebrate Black heritage and Juneteenth.
