Tips for Eating at Michelin Restaurants with Kids

  1. Go early. The 5 pm hour means a less crowded restaurant, faster service, and less cranky (maybe!) kids.
  2. If possible, make reservations to minimize waiting with kids.
  3. Bring crayons and paper or another easy distraction.
  4. If the weather is nice, sit outside! The patio is where kids can be a little messier and louder without attracting extra attention.

Michelin-Star Restaurants in Chicago Where You Can Bring Kids

1. Kasama

This West Town bakery was an instant hit when it first opened, with lines wrapping around the block. Due to the casual nature of the bakery and outdoor waiting experience during the day, kids will feel more than welcome at this Filipino-style eatery.

Highlights include sandwiches, longanisa sausage, garlic rice, ube pastries, cookies, and flaky croissants.

During the evening, Kasama transforms into a high-end tasting menu experience, which is more formal and better suited for older children or adults. But daytime is a welcoming, laid-back spot for all ages, earning its reputation as a rare Michelin-starred place that doesn't mind strollers and snack-loving little ones.

Sepia is great for older kids who can sit through a longer meal.

2. Sepia

Sepia encourages a “casual elegant” vibe—no formal suit required, and guests are free to wear smart-casual attire. Great for slightly older kiddos, Sepia offers four-course prix fixe menus and a relaxed pace for a relatively affordable price.

The space isn’t stuffy, with comfortable acoustics that let families chat across the table.

Galit's sharing menu means more options for kids.

3. Galit

Tucked away on Lincoln Avenue, this modern Middle Eastern restaurant is both high-end and kid-friendly. With high-chairs available and a warm, inviting atmosphere, families will feel relaxed at this fine-dining meets casual establishment.

If your younger ones are less adventurous eaters, there are easy options like hummus, pita, and fresh vegetables, or give the kitchen a heads-up, and they may prepare something special for the kids.

Galit is an uncommon gem where upscale meets approachable—ideal for families seeking delicious meals and a welcoming vibe. If you're planning a family outing, consider making an early reservation or opting for a communal table on a weekend evening to enjoy the full experience together.

4. Moody Tongue

Beyond their Michelin-level tasting room, Moody Tongue has a relaxed bar area where families can enjoy à la carte dishes—like chicken ballotine, pork chops, oysters, and their famous 12‑layer German chocolate cake—without committing to a long, formal tasting meal. They offer high-chairs, wheelchair ramps, and a cozy, albeit moody, vibe for families.

5. Boka

Boka offers both prix fixe and a la carte options, which is why it makes it an easy spot for families with specific dietary requests. The restaurant itself is busy but friendly, so louder kids won’t stand out among the chatting patrons.
