We Remember: Memorial Day at the USS Constitution Museum
The USS Constitution Museum invites the community to honor those who gave their lives in service this Memorial Day. Throughout May, activities will recognize the service and sacrifice of military members and their families.
Starting Armed Services Day on Saturday, May 17, all active-duty service members and their families receive complimentary admission through the Blue Star Museums program—a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums nationwide.
Willow Tree Tribute
May 1 – May 31, 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Visitors are encouraged to make a leaf tribute for a fallen USS Constitution service member to place on the Willow Tree. This symbolic tree represents survival and rebirth. Participants can also share why Memorial Day is meaningful to them. The activity is available throughout the month during museum hours.
Make a Patriotic Flag Pin
Saturday, May 24 – Monday, May 26, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Guests of all ages can create flag pins from beads as a symbolic gesture to honor fallen service members and the freedoms they defended. This activity is free with museum admission by donation, while supplies last. No registration is required.
Taps Across America
May 26, 3:00 PM
The museum will join National Parks of Boston and the USS Constitution in observing a minute of silence at the Charlestown Navy Yard flagpole as taps sound. This national moment of remembrance honors those who died in military service, and the public is invited to participate.
