Tap a Tree
- see all dates
Nothing beats that first drip from a tap in a sugar maple tree, and nothing kicks off the season quite like hanging a bucket to capture the sap that will turn into maple syrup!
Help support your maple sugaring operation by adopting a tree. Take the time at home to design your own tree label on a regular piece of paper (8.5 x 11 inches). When you arrive, hosts laminate your label so you can attach it to your chosen tree.
Once labels are laminated, guests take a hike to the sugar bush where each family chooses a sugar maple. Along the way everyone learns about what it means to be a maple farmer - from identifying the tree, to learning the tools of the trade, to the actual tapping of the tree. Once the maple bucket is hung, if the weather cooperates, look and listen for the first drops of sap.
At the end of the sugaring season, each family receives a bottle of Moose Hill syrup from this year's season to complete the experience.
