A Birding Adventure Celebrating October Big Day

Autumn comes alive at Fruitlands Museum with a day of activities celebrating birds, nature, and creativity, all in honor of the global birding event October Big Day.
The program begins with guided bird walks along the scenic trails, led by the Boxboro Birders from 10–11:30 AM and the Brookline Bird Club from 2–3:30 PM. Guests are welcome to join either walk—or both—to explore the vibrant birdlife that thrives in this unique landscape. Guides will meet participants in front of the Wayside Gallery.
From 11 AM to 3 PM, visitors can tap into their creativity at drop-in artmaking in the Wayside Gallery, crafting seasonal monoprints using natural materials such as leaves and feathers.
At 1 PM, Monadnock Falconry takes the spotlight with a live demonstration on the Museum grounds outside the historic Farmhouse. Guests will have the rare opportunity to observe birds of prey up close and learn about their vital roles in the ecosystem. Please note that this portion of the program requires a separate ticket, which also includes admission to the general event.
Registration options include General Event Admission or General Event Admission plus the Falconry Demonstration. All tickets also provide access to Fruitlands’ historic houses, Shaker and Transcendentalist collections, and art galleries.
Cancellation Policy: In the event The Trustees cancels a program due to severe weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances, we will notify registrants by email and issue a full refund or transfer to another scheduled program within two weeks of the cancellation. To cancel a reservation, please contact Fruitlands Museum 7 days prior to the start of the program to receive a full refund. Refunds and transfers will not be granted for cancellations placed fewer than 7 days before the start of the program. As a general policy, The Trustees does not issue refunds for weather-shortened programs, in keeping with our standard approach to outdoor programs and the unpredictability of New England weather.
